Upcoming Launch

We are finally doing one of those!

Hello, and thank you for joining me in my little corner of the Internet. I started this space looking for a place to put my essay work and musings that allowed me to escape the constraints of branded or formulaic content. With the breakdown of Twitter as we knew it and its metamorphosis into…whatever it is devolving into now, I recognized the need to renegotiate how I interacted with the Internet and how that impacts my creative process and work. Thus the Great Substack Experiment began.

This brings me to the subject of this post: launch.

I have landed on a name and edited all of the little details of this here newsletter to reflect what it is about. I confess I landed on the name because my favorite song of 2022 came on while I was working on this (“Chaise Longue” by Wet Leg), and I decided that I was actually the person “over there on a chaise longue in [my] underwear.” Yes, I will continue to use obnoxious color pallets. My therapist has been making me work on not apologizing for things that do not cause harm to others, especially if it makes me happy (I am still sorry for my indelible attraction to extremely bright pink). The first official newsletter post will land on May 18, 2023.

I can’t promise that my posting (lack of) schedule will make much sense, but I can promise that I will meet you here with regularity to discuss everything from my works-in-progress to art to the state of the world to esoteric special interests. I am so very glad that you are here and reading this right now. If you feel like you would like to hang out for a chat, hit that subscribe button and I will meet you here for the launch.

Two white men are talking with each other. One is the man (David) from the previous image. The other (Patrick) is brown-haired and wearing a blue button down. He is saying, "Well, looks like this soft launch is firming up a bit, huh?"
